Description for route of synthesis:
Mix mercaptoacetic acid with propanol, add concentrated sulfuric acid as a catalyst, and heat to reflux temperature for esterification reaction; Removing the generated water through separation or distillation during the reaction process promotes the forward progress of the reaction; After the reaction is complete, the system is cooled, neutralized, washed with water, dried, and purified by vacuum distillation to obtain the target product propyl mercaptoacetate.
