Description for Route of Synthesis:
Add sodium ethoxide and xylene to a 500 ml four-neck flask, then slowly add dimethyl oxalate, taking care to cool the system during the addition process. Next, add methyl chloroacetate dropwise, maintaining the system temperature at approximately 40℃. After the addition is complete, maintain the reaction at this temperature for about 2 hours.
Take a 1000 ml four-neck flask, add sulfamic acid, add water to dissolve it completely, then add dimethyl 2-chloro-3-oxobutyrate, and heat it to reflux; under reflux conditions, add 2-methylacrolein dropwise. After the addition is complete, distill off the water and xylene in the system. Then add trimethylbenzene and extract the product.
